Affordable Housing Advisory Council Nominations
The Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (“FHLBNY”) is now accepting nominations for the FHLBNY’s Affordable Housing Advisory Council (“Council”). Nominations must be made by completing the attached nomination form and submitting it, along with the nominee’s resume or biographical statement, to the Bank by the close of business on October 31, 2018, in order to be considered. All nominees will be informed of the results of the nomination process by December 31, 2018.
The Council’s role is to advise the FHLBNY’s staff and the Housing Committee of the FHLBNY’s Board of Directors on ways in which it can support the housing and community development mission. On at least a quarterly basis, the Council meets with members of the Board of Directors and Management.
The FHLBNY seeks to have balanced representation on the Council and will draw nominees from across the district (NY, NJ, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands) and from a diverse range of community nonprofit and for-profit organizations that are actively involved in providing or promoting low- and moderate-income housing within the district. Selected members are appointed for terms of up to three years and may be re-appointed for additional terms, but not to exceed three consecutive three-year terms.
We are currently seeking to fill vacancies on the Council with representatives serving the Long Island, Southern New Jersey and Mid/Upstate New York areas. The ideal candidates should have a demonstrated history of service in their respective communities; a solid understanding of national, state and local affordable housing and community development trends and best practices in community development; and expertise in a pertinent affordable housing related field such as real estate development, residential or commercial lending, social/supportive services, and or affordable housing policy. Employees of member financial institutions are not eligible to serve on the Council.
Please take the time to submit the names of appropriate potential candidates who are willing and committed to advising the FHLBNY in meeting its housing and community development mission. If you have any questions about the Council or the nomination process, please contact Daniel Randall, Affordable Housing Business Development Officer at (212) 441-6876, or you may contact Paul Heroux, SVP, Chief Bank Operations Officer & Community Investment Officer at (212) 441-6808.
