AHP Success Stories
Flushing Bank & NHHA renovate Pond View Homes, a public housing project on Long Island
On June 12, FHLBNY employees were honored to join in celebrating the successful rehabilitation of Pond View Homes, a 52-unit public housing project on Long Island. The project had previously received a $780,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant in 2014.
At the event, Daniel Randall, the Business Development Officer for the FHLBNY’s Affordable Housing Program, congratulated Flushing Bank, the FHLBNY member which had sponsored the project’s AHP grant application in 2014, as well as the project’s other partners, which included the North Hempstead Housing Authority (NHHA).
Colleagues from across the FHLBNY attended the event, reflecting the FHLBNY’s commitment to its housing mission. This also provided staff members with the opportunity to gain more exposure to the work the FHLBNY does through its Affordable Housing Program. Kinya McNeil, who works in Electronic Payments, said, “Attending the event helped me to gain a better understanding and appreciation of the Bank’s mission to partner with financial institutions to advance housing opportunities.”
AHP is a subsidy program in which funds are awarded through a competitive process to member lenders in support of projects that create and/or preserve housing for lower income families and individuals.
