AHP Success Stories
AHP Award Preserves 64 Units of Affordable Housing in Camden, NJ
Cooper Plaza Townhomes Preservation, which received a $970,000 commitment in the 2018 AHP round, will preserve 64 units of affordable housing in Camden, NJ. The project consists of 32 Victorian-style townhome buildings in the Cooper Lanning neighborhood. Cooper Plaza was submitted by Better Tomorrows in the previous AHP round and did not receive a commitment. The FHLBNY’s staff prides itself on its extensive outreach and technical training, and the many successful re-applications for the AHP – like the 2018 Cooper Plaza award – are a testament to the success of that work. Richard Mroz, a member of the FHLBNY’s Board and chair of its Housing Committee, spoke at a recent celebration event for the project, along with local officials and other funders.
AHP is a subsidy program in which funds are awarded through a competitive process to member lenders in support of projects that create and/or preserve housing for lower income families and individuals.
